Enjoying a funny movie that's actually about gardening!
(Thanks to Rob at the excellent blog, The British Gardener, for recommending it!)

  1. Send some of that rain to AZ please ;-)
Your rain garden is wonderful and the water isn't even muddy. LOL I guess the grass filters it.

  2. I love the design and look of the rain garden, it is fantastic! The stone bottom is great. Lucky you with all the tadpoles, I would so like to have lots of tadpoles and frogs. And I will definitely check out that movie.

  3. So pretty! I love your rain garden and I like the flowers in your garden from your last post.
    Very nice!

  4. What a beautiful rain garden...I love that idea. It's too bad that we get so little rain, it won't work here.

But a gardener can dream, can't she? And I can look at the photos of yours to enjoy it.

  5. It might be because I'm British born but I love walking in the rain. Anything less than gale force counts as a good day to head out. We have had a heatwave for the last week. Everyone here is giddy with joy over it. How can I say I miss the steady beat and can hardly sleep without it. Perhaps a plate of yum will restore my equilibrium.

  6. Tammy, what a fine thing is rain! (When it's not very often!)
I love your rain garden, the plants seem enough healthy. Your cookies are really delicious. I will try to find this movie with translation to watch.

  8. There is nothing like enough rain to make a garden beautiful! I love you fence.

  9. Your rain garden creek bed is working as the gardener designed -- beautiful! We are in some kind of an atmospheric black hole here, with not a drop for 17 days, and only four tenths the week before that. It rained yesterday all around us in Mass. and NY but we did not get any. A weird break in all the storms left us still horribly dry while our neighbors got relief.

How lovely it is to look at your full rain garden -- and sample yummy cookies at the same time!

  10. I love Helen Mirren, so I may have to track down the Greenfingers movie and give it a watch.
Hope you saved me some of that goodness from that plate of yum.
    Enjoy the rain.

  12. They all look good! Your rain garden looks fabulous. I've almost forgotten what standing water looks like! ;) The cookies look delicious. Now you'll have me craving cookies! I've seen the movie - did you know the garden designer was (loosely) modeled after Rosemary Verey!

  13. Your rain garden looks wonderful! I've never heard of that movie before, so will have to investigate, I think Helen Mirren is fabulous, and if it's all about gardening, then... :-)

  14. It IS nice when things work out and do what you want them to do. And in a garden as in life it is not something you can count on.

  15. Thanks, I would like to see this video, too. Happy and beautiful plants you have !

  16. Your most appealing rain garden sent me out to check on mine. Hmmm, damp but not enough rain around this part of Connecticut yet. Enjoy all your good stuff.

  18. Hi Tammy, your rain garden looks so pure and clear, I just know that if I had a go it would quickly turn into a weed-filled mud-pie. I'm getting over the fact that there's a film about gardening and that plate of cookies has me reaching for the recipe books.

  19. ....and a nice cold beer! Glad you liked the film, try 'Saving Grace' next, it's still garden oriented.

  20. Sometimes everything is just in fine balance and is perfect. And it is well to notice those rare situations because it helps you get through the dreadful chaos of all the other times ;)

Your gardens are gorgeous Tammy. In the previous post too. Well done, gardener, and thanks for sharing!

  21. How perfect is a rain garden full of rain!! I wish this was "eat-a-vision" so I could have one of those cookies...yummy!! Is that Yarrow I see? It's so big and healthy looking!!!

  22. I could kill for one of your cookies right now! I am on a quest to lose some weight (again!), cookies are definitely not on the menu. I had to scroll quickly past them as I could feel my brain conspiring behind my back to raid my fridge without my knowledge…

That said, your photos are lovely, loved your rain garden, with rain water! Hope it will stay nicely filled and that the tadpoles are happy.

  24. Now I understand the phrase "as right as rain." Your garden is a perfect example. We watched the DVD of Greenfingers a couple of years ago, and I really enjoyed it. I believe it's based on a true story.

  25. Those cookies do look like a plateful of yum! And the rain garden looks great.

Glad to hear you have tadpoles in your pond. There have been tadpoles in the puddle in the paddock too.

  26. I'm intrigued by your rain garden. I hope it does really well for you. It looks great. I'll look for this movie. Our pond is full of tadpoles too. Don't you love them? And your cookies are making my mouth water. Have a great weekend!

  27. Love the rain garden! I saw a fantastic, impressive one at Milwaukee's Boerner Botanical Garden yesterday. But yours is just as spectacular. And nothing better than having tadpoles, happy plants, and a plate full of chocolate-chip cookies!

  28. there's tadpoles!!!! I've never forgotten about your bucket pond, so glad to see an update and learn it's now got some spring life in it.

  30. I haven't seem Greenfingers in years, but remember liking the movie. So much the better with a plate of cookies!
Isn't it great when things go according to plan? Your little bucket pond is looking great now that the plants surrounding it have filled in so nicely. That there are now tadpoles is the ultimate compliment.

  31. Oh I love that movie too! It's so British... Your rain garden has a stream of water but coming from where? Is that only actual rain? OMG. I lost some plants because of a one week flood at the bottom of the garden a couple of months ago. Hopefully your perennials are higher than water. I won't say a word on those beautiful cookies... I need to pretend not seeing them...

  32. How did you make that pond and that river of water. I also want to create. Any advice or any step by step instruction would be really helpful. Thanks.
