1. A week of rain to quench a thirsty garden
I didn't like the original hook I used for the copper birdhouse so I switched to a forged iron lantern hook and added some decorative grass the fill the empty space.
2. Tweaking a project until you get it just right
3. The "I'm going to stick this here because I don't know where else to put it" plant combos that work out perfectly
4. Linaria beginning to bloom
5. Not killing the lewisia over the winter
6. Discovering a nodding purple columbine I don't remember planting.
7. Daily reminders to follow your heart
Cute pot, copper bird house and dancing girl.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteHope your week is right as rain, Tammy :)
ReplyDeletePS - Your copper birdhouse is fabulous. Looking great on its new hook!
Thanks! I like the new hook, too. The other hook just felt out of place. It needed something thicker and I like the flat top.
DeleteWhat is the red-leafed plant in the third photograph? It is awesome! I love that pot. Love it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a heuchera I can't remember the name of. :o) The pot was easy to make!
DeleteTammy, it's quite possible that your nodding purple columbine is a pass-along from me from one of our plant swaps (either as a columbine or a hijacker seedling). I have a whole bunch just like this, most of which are descended from some double Barlow Black columbine I grew from seed ages ago. For example - https://flic.kr/p/rE9onW
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! That explains it! I love it. It's my new favorite columbine. :o)
Deleteskipping off into the sunset!
ReplyDeleteI'm just trying to focus on the positive. I think there's beauty in everyday. :o)
DeleteAll good reasons to rejoice! A week of rain - *DEEP SIGH*. That metal sculpture is so you!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I loved it the minute I saw it. After a "dry" couple of weeks we've had loads of rain lately with more on the way.
DeleteI see we share a gardening technique, the "I'm going to stick this here because I don't know where else to put it" which sometimes works wonders (not always unfortunately).
ReplyDeleteSometimes desperation is the best designer. :o)
DeleteThankfulness--I love it! I'm glad you had a good day/week/month. I hope this will be a lovely growing season for you and that your personal life will bring happy times, too. :)
ReplyDeleteAll is well and there is always something to be happy about! :o)
DeleteI do love those plant combinations that work out, especially the unexpected ones I did not plan. Yes, it is easy to dwell on those things that aren't working just right, but our lives much brighter when we recognize the good things. I can tell you have a positive spirit. It must be fun to be your friend!
ReplyDeleteMy friends and I have a blast together so I must be ok to hang out with. ;o) I do try to look at the bright side of life.
DeleteYour garden is a perfect combination of plants and whimsy.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAh Spring, a new discovery around every corner. Love it.
ReplyDeleteMe, too!
DeleteMarvellous! Oh to discover a nodding purple columbine I had forgotten I had planted.... or a mature quince tree.... or a peach....
ReplyDeleteMy garden surprises me every year with plants I had totally forgotten about. I love it!
DeleteEverything looks healthy and lush. Love the birdhouse and the metal sculpture. One can never have too much garden art. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I do love my garden art! :o)
DeleteIt is always good at this time of year to see plants reappear in the garden and welcome new ones! Sarah x
ReplyDeleteIt's so invigorating!
DeleteI do love seeing plant partnerships that work out, despite my cramscaping "design". And I love your revised pot. Very cool. Will there be babies in that birdhouse? You're getting the rain that usually plagues, er I mean, blesses us this time of year. With all the money you'll save on your water bill you can buy more plants!
ReplyDeleteI like the revised pot better, too. I'm not sure if there will be any babies in that birdhouse but I do have babies in other houses. We've had so much rain and there's more on the way!
DeleteGlad to hear you got some much-needed rain, and love the new blooms. The Heuchera and Polemonium are a brilliant combo even if they are accidental.
ReplyDeleteIt was totally unplanned but that makes me love it even more. :o)
DeleteThank you for leaving a comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very pretty garden.
I love the change you have made re the birdhouse, it sets a lovely scene.
Thanks! In my mind's eye, the big round hook was going to be fabulous but in reality, not so much. I much prefer the flatter hook, too.
DeleteI love this so much. I love rain, and it is definitely right when it is needed. And daily reminders to follow your heart are the best :)
ReplyDeleteI think so, too. :o)
DeleteWhat is lining the beds? I am going to be making the front lawn more bed and less lawn and am wondering about how to make the edge as it has to be raised due to all the cables and lines under the lawn....Michelle
ReplyDeleteNothing lines the beds. I just dig a little trench every spring and again in the fall. :o)
DeleteI was looking at the your list. I have contacted every local nursery here and they don't know if the seeds or plugs they use are treated and in one case they told me that it goes away after a while anyway. 7 local places and I can't buy a thing near Buffalo NY...
ReplyDeleteGet to know the managers and see if they'll find growers who sell clean plants. If not, shop online! The companies on my list are excellent. :o)
DeleteEverything looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could have a week of rain for my thirsty garden.
Thanks! We had several weeks of warm, dry, windy weather before the rain hit. We still have more on the way.
DeleteLove your metal sculpture but I love the white flowers in the pot as well.
ReplyDeleteOur rain hasn't come in as yet...can't wait for its arrival....garden is parched, lawn is crispy brown and we are under water restrictions....how daunting is that???
Thanks! An island drought? Ugh! How frustrating to be surrounded by water and have to conserve what you use.
DeleteYour purple columbine is pretty Tammy. I love them and mine are pink and white. I'm glad you had rain, I've read that there was a storm in your place.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's been very rainy here but I'll take it!
DeleteAh yes, you just can't beat things going right! Love your new look pot, although I liked both looks! Some lovely bloomers especially that linaria. Oh I say, love that fab metal sculpture! Just fabulous!xxx
ReplyDeleteLove number 7, and I also love when those plant combos just seem to work out.
ReplyDeleteAnd how can things be wrong in May? The best time of the whole year.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to get a good dose of rain?! It does more wonders than a hosepipe ever could. Your garden is looking lush and lovely and I loved the Heuchera combo - really pretty!
