1. Coming home from a seed swap with a chunk of snowdrops
2. Making new friends at Dirtworks first meetup
3. New growth in the flower beds
4. Pulling weeds - If the weeds are growing, my garden isn't far behind.
5. Chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast
6. Having a former student run up the hallway yelling my name and then grab me in a bear hug. 7th grade boys do hug their teachers. I have proof. :o)
Beautiful snowdrops! Totally jelly of the pancakes ;)
ReplyDelete
DeleteThey were delish! Fried up in buttah, baby! (The pancakes, not the snowdrops)
It's refreshing and inspiring to read your Everything list, Tammy, reminding me that, from time to time, it's good to take stock and appreciate the positives. After the winter we've had, your Number 4 is especially welcome. Cheers.

DeleteLife is rarely as bad as we think it is. There is always something to be happy about. :o)
The chocolate chip pancakes caught my attention. :) Spring is not far off.
ReplyDeleteCher Sunray Gardens
DeleteChocolate chip pancakes are a breakfast staple here. Just take your favorite pancake mix and dump in some mini-chocolate chips. Yum!
U mnie też zakwitły przebiśniegi i lubię naleśniki, ale ze śmietaną :)))
ReplyDeleteFor me it blossomed like snowdrops and pancakes, but with cream :)))
DeletePancakes with cream? I'll have to give that a try!
I love your number 6. That had to have made your day :)
ReplyDeleteMy everything right today was a couple of hours spent at a nursery pondering, planning and buying plants with a best friend. It was therapy for sure.
DeleteI had a student tell me last night that was class was "more funner" than 7th grade. I love seeing my former students, especially when I get hugs or they sneak bathroom passes to come visit me. I'm not sure I could work with adults all day. :o)
I love the snowdrops, they are so hard to get going from bulbs, dry out too quickly. Getting a clump from a new friend is the best. Although that hug from your student is a strong contender for the title of awesome.
ReplyDeleteHe's a funny kid who spent a few minutes each class day last year trying to figure out how to climb into my recylcing bin. I finally let him climb in and hide and he broke it. I wasn't mad. I thought the whole thing was funny. He has an awesome personality and I love his hugs. I love my new snowdrops, too.
Loved your list, all importan points, my list was like this today:
ReplyDelete1. The sun was shining.
2. The sun was shining.
3. The sun was shining.
4.....you get my point?
It is still cold in London, but I could really FEEL the sun today when I was out in the garden. Lovely, made my day!
DeleteI'm right there with you! I was so happy to see the sun come out the other day. It was a real mood lifter. :o)
So you convinced a few people to try on the boots? Garden friends are the best. No eye rolling or glazing over at the prospect of a nursery visit or garden tour and they give you lots of cool stuff.
ReplyDeleteEverything that's right for me today:
1. Tomorrow is the first day of meteorological spring. Bring it on!
DeleteLOL! Actually, no one mentioned the picture of the boots (except my husband, of course, who wants me to buy them) and no one was grossed out when I explained I have worm compost bins in an unfinished part of my basement. Woo-hoo! Gotta love a gardener!
What an outstanding list! I would have to say that the big bear hug from one of your students was my favorite! I was a teacher for many years and those just melt my heart....and the fact that he was a 7th grade boy makes it all that much sweeter! Thanks again for the great seed post!! I have some things rocking outside now and hope to post about them this weekend! Take care and enjoy all of those wonderful bits of happiness you have in that list!!!
ReplyDelete
DeleteAnother teacher! Awesome! Middle school boys have the potential to still be quite sweet, which I really enjoy. Love your new seed set up. :o)
I liked all these good things on your list, but I loved number 6!
ReplyDelete
DeleteMe, too!
Yes, boys do hug their teachers and girls as well! Happy weekend, Tammy!
ReplyDelete
DeleteYes, they do! Have a great weekend, too, Satu!
Made me very happy to read that your former boy student ran to you yelling your name and gave you a bear hug...that is a picture in my mind that I won't forget in any hurry......Priceless.
ReplyDelete
DeleteHe's a great kid. A real keeper. :o) That's why I love being a teacher. Adults are too guarded with their emotions while kids are more immediate and honest.
Great list - with the little bit of warmth we have had over the last couple of days the snowdrops have deigned to open just a little.
ReplyDelete
DeleteAfter seeing so many posts about snowdrops, I was really excited to see pots of them at the seed swap. Every time I look at them, I feel happy.
Isn't it wonderful to see those weeds...I know they are the start to spring! My 7th grade boys frequently called me mom and I smiled every time ...those hugs were/are priceless
ReplyDelete
DeleteI've been called Mom, too. :o) My students love to look at the funny pix of my kids I have on my desk. I think it reminds them that I'm more than just their science teacher. What subject do you teach?
That is a nice big chunk of snowdrops...I purchased 6 individual plants a couple of years ago and they are still very tiny. It's going to take YEARS for them to amount to much of anything. Glad you're finding a way to get together with other like-minded folks:) I am so darn busy with my master gardening projects, substitute teaching, and being parent volunteer coordinator for my sons crew team and 2 orchestras that managing to drop in to visit will be a real feat--but if one of the times you're having the get together I am able to, I definitely will. But you have to promise to wear the boots :)
ReplyDelete
DeleteI may have to break down and buy some boots like the ones in my post. ;o) You sound very busy. If you end up with a bit of spare time, you know how to find me.
Somewhere under the snow I know I have snowdrops waiting to make an appearance. Patience, I tell myself! Yours are so pretty.
ReplyDelete
DeleteI'm still excited that I have them! I think I'm going to plant then in a pot on my back patio. That probably sounds a bit odd, but it's in a spot that I see every day so they'll be a cheerful diversion in Feb when I need it most. :o)
Tammy, this your former student was sincere, that is rare thing today. It's a pleasure. Your snowdrops are fresh and brand new!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend1
DeleteI work with a lot of kids that aren't sincere but he is a real sweetie. He reminds me of a puppy. :o)
You know I have never eaten chocolate chip pancakes in my life, but they taste delicious in my imagination. Maybe I should request them for breakfast this Sunday (hubby makes breakfast on the weekends). I love all the positive thinking on your list. New friends, snowdrops and signs of spring are all wonderful, but the bear hug from a former student has to be the most gratifying.
ReplyDelete
DeleteYou've never had a chocolate chip pancake? Grab some chocolate chips and throw them in the batter the next time you make pancakes. Tasty! I don't put any syrup or butter on them. I just eat them like cookies. I make them for breakfast several times a week. :o)
I love number 6, too, I've myself a son at age 16, sometimes he can be hugged, but never in front of his friends : ) But also who can resist snowdrops and new growth ! Have a nice weekend !
ReplyDelete
DeleteMy son was like that, too. Now he tells me he loves me all the time. There is a lot of new growth peeking out from under the mulch. Hooray!
So cute the boy wanted to hug you!
ReplyDeleteI too, have never ate chocolate chip pancakes. I don't know if I would like them with the maple syrup on them. But, I guess you never know until you try them!
DeleteI think they'd be pretty gross with syrup on them. I eat them like cookies. :o)
A wonderful list of smiles! I think each one would make me smile, too.
ReplyDelete
DeleteThanks!
Hmm, chocolate chip pancakes.... very intriguing. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful list!
DeleteThey're so good! It's like eating cookies for breakfast but with less guilt.
Love your number 6 but a great list all together! Chocolate for breakfast, yum!
ReplyDelete
DeleteI think chocolate, bacon, fruit, and coffee should a part of every breakfast! :o) I love #6, too. It makes constantly grading papers so worth it. :o)
Lots of good things! I hope we get to hear more about Dirtworks. My best friend taught Junior High for about a 100yrs. Students come up to her all the time, beaming their little faces off. What a reward!
ReplyDelete
DeleteStudents who were convinced I was the Axis of Evil in 6th grade come and tell me in 7th grade how much they miss my class. It's always funny to me. I've taught for 15 years. I have 85 to go!
Great list! And the snowdrops are beautiful! Funny how only gardeners appreciate weeds! I can still remember a few of my teachers. It must be wonderful to touch people forever.
ReplyDelete
DeleteI was motivated by a high school teacher to become a teacher. :o) I was so happy to see weeds in my garden! It just felt good to have a green plant in my hands!
Ah snowdrops....I love them, and still can't believe that I left behind the biggest clump of them. So one day I am going to get some more...until then I will enjoy your photos.
ReplyDeleteLoving your list.
Jen
DeleteThanks! Maybe the next type of swap people need to have is a bulb swap. That could produce some interesting results. :o)
I love this post! It's everything that's right about garden blogging.
ReplyDelete
DeleteThanks! :o)
Yay for things that go right! And snowdrops are the most adorable little blooms; I have some blooming at the moment too! Jeannine
ReplyDelete
DeleteThat little clump of snow drops is the only thing blooming right now and I'm really enjoying them. They make spring seem a lot closer. :o)
Hi, I'm sorry I'm so behind on my blog reading. It looks like things are going "right" with you. I love the snowdrops. How cool is that? And a student giving you a hug, what a heartwarming gesture, bless his heart. I'm glad your Dirtworks is going well. Cheers.
ReplyDelete
DeleteI thought it was incredible to see those clumps of snowdrops sitting there with all the seed packets. It was all I could do not to grab each pot and run off with them. :o)
Great list of things that are right. Chocolate chip pancakes is a good one....might have to have some soon.
ReplyDelete
DeleteChocolate chip pancakes are practically their own food group at our house. I always use mini-chocolate chips. Tasty!
Loved your list. The snowdrops are beautiful. Sorry I missed the first Dirtworks meeting. Things have been haywire at the new house. Maybe next time.
ReplyDelete
DeleteIt would be great to meet you. :o) Hopefully, the house craziness will calm down soon.
I could definitely do with 3 and 5, several times over. I'm all but banned from 1 given the spending last year and the resulting greenhouses jostling for space on the patio.
