She is 16 years old but still wants to play despite having arthritis and a bad heart. My birdhouses are pretty tame compared to some of the really unique ones I've seen. :o)
I expect 100% occupancy this year. I'm really picky about the houses I buy. They have to be artistic as well as fully functional and designed for the birds first. The tall house with the door knob has a much higher floor for the bird to nest on and the chickadees love it. I have 2 other houses by Rebecca that the little birds just love.
Your birdhouses are lovely, and the seedling is such a reassuring sign of spring. Cute dog with the toy, too (is that a cat-shaped chew toy or a dog?). Thanks for your cheery post! -Beth
It's a blue dog that makes a loud honking noise when we squeeze it. She loves it even though she can only play for a few minutes. The seedlings are under grow lights in my basement but I love knowing that not everything is asleep!
Smart girl to know that not all cute birdhouses are right for birds. Some have toxic paint on them, some are great for looks, but a bird wouldn't nest there....I love that you know the difference. Even though I love the birdhouses and your sweet pup, my favorite picture is the seedling. Seeing its fuzzy little seed sprout being up close and personal reminded me that my mother told me once that she found me under a seedling. I suspect she was trying to dodge "the talk."
A lot of birdhouses are just for interior decor. It takes a lot of savvy shopping to find cool houses that are actually habitable. I have seeds growing under lights in my basement and I love watching their progress. I think your mom was doing some serious dodging! I have yet to find a baby under a sprout. ;o)
I love your birdhouses, the one with the interesting door handle is so cool! Where do people find such interesting things? Ah fresh new growing things, we could do with some of that here right now. Your puppy looks pretty happy!
Rebecca makes very cool birdhouses but I found the doorknob and backplate on Etsy and sent them to her. She did the rest. My pup is 16 and is a queen. :o)
I'm always delighted to see a seed become a seedling. I hope you threw that toy your dog so patiently laid at your feet! I bet she's at least mildly put out that you're focusing on the garden rather than her very important need to play.
We played for a bit but she has arthritis and quickly began to limp so I carried her inside. But it was so good to see her want to play. My garden is 95% dormant so she had all my attention. :o)
♥ Thanks so much for sharing my birdhouses on your site!! You don't know how much it means to me that your backyard birds are actually using the birdhouses as a home. :)
That's a face that could melt an iceberg. I love the birdhouses. The first one does look like a home for an elf and the doorknob bird rest is a really fun detail on the second.
Love love love the birdhouses...they're villa-style accommodations for sure....if I were a bird I'd definitely want to live there. Old dogs with young hearts are the BEST!!!
They are perfect for small birds, especially the one made by Rebecca. The elf house has a slightly larger hole so I wouldn't be surprised if a sparrow moved in. My old dog is the queen of the casa. :o)
Awwww....I absolutely loved all these pics, the birdhouses are utterly enchanting...I want them! The coneflower is a delight, but....my heart has gone completely to the old dog....awwwwwh.....how an old dog tugs at my heartstrings! xxx
Wow, those birdhouses are works of art – lucky birds! Your dog is very cute, my old cat also suffers from arthritis, I know exactly how he feels, we both are slow to rise from chairs and beds and like to wrap up warm and stay close to the radiator :-)
What a sweet sweet face that puppy has. I like your idea of celebrating the good. I get caught up sometimes in the 'what next' or 'what didn't work' instead of focusing on what made me happy.
what fun....I love that second birdhouse but my birds I don't think would feel comfortable in such a big house....although the swallows would inhabit any house they could....
The second house is much narrower than it may appear and the floor is much higher, creating a much smaller space that is perfect for little birds. I have two other houses by Rebecca and the chickadees love them. :o)
Love your birdhouses, especially the tall one with the doorknob and the key hanging above it.
ReplyDeleteI love the functional beauty of a well made birdhouse, especially when they include repurposed materials. Rebecca's houses are wonderful. :o)
DeleteHi Tammy, I love the birdhouses, I'm pretty sure no-one else has birdhouses like yours. The picture of your dog with the toy is co sweet!

DeleteGreat birdhouses, but do the birds actually nest in them. Cute dog, too.

DeleteLet us know when.
ReplyDelete???
DeleteIt is always good to count ones blessings. Getting more bird houses is on my to do list for this year.
ReplyDeleteIt's always on my To Do list but it may be time to take it off. I have 20!
DeleteCool birdhouses and adorable puppy! I was looking at pictures from the fling and found three of you that absolutely cracked me up! What fun we had!
ReplyDeleteI want to see them! I really wish you were going to Toronto. :(

DeleteThe wild berry seedling is so interesting. I want to know how about the plant next.
ReplyDeleteIt's a type of coneflower that grows much shorter than usual and blooms the first year from seed.
DeleteWow, what upmarket birdhouses. You have very lucky birds. And they even have their own door key. Thay' s what I call posh.
ReplyDeleteVery posh! But the rent is cheep. ;o)

ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely welcome! The chickadees especially love your houses.
DeleteThose birdhouses are adorable!
ReplyDeleteThanks!

ReplyDeleteI've had my eye on the elf house for quite a while and finally broke down and bought it. I'm so glad I did. :o)
DeleteWhat a sweet puppy dog. The birdhouses are CUTE!
ReplyDeleteThanks!

If I were a bird, I'd move into my garden, too. The accommodations are deluxe, for sure. :o)
DeleteLove the birdhouses! And what a sweet face on your dog! Yes, it's the little things that make me happy, too.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the little things that matter most. :o)
DeleteI have the same kind of old dog with a young heart! They are the BEST! Love those birdhouses - are they for smaller birds?
ReplyDeleteThey are perfect for small birds, especially the one made by Rebecca. The elf house has a slightly larger hole so I wouldn't be surprised if a sparrow moved in. My old dog is the queen of the casa. :o)

ReplyDeleteWe adopted her when she was 8 years old and she's now 16. I wish more people would adopt the older dogs. They are much easier than puppies.
DeleteWow, those birdhouses are works of art – lucky birds! Your dog is very cute, my old cat also suffers from arthritis, I know exactly how he feels, we both are slow to rise from chairs and beds and like to wrap up warm and stay close to the radiator :-)
ReplyDeleteI carry her up and down the stairs like an elevator to keep her pain to a minimum. I just wish her heart was as strong as her spirit.
DeleteWhat a sweet sweet face that puppy has. I like your idea of celebrating the good. I get caught up sometimes in the 'what next' or 'what didn't work' instead of focusing on what made me happy.
ReplyDeleteI'm a realist but there is so much good in everyday that we are blessed with. :o)
DeleteVery nice! I love adorable birdhouses. And there's nothing like growing things and loyal pets to make one happy :)
ReplyDeleteSo true! My seedlings do remind me that spring is on the way. :o)
