The Baltyk clematis is blooming
and the dwarf hydrangea has buds.
My mosaic pot hasn't fallen apart.
I've gotten used to the lavatory sound of my little blue fountain and
no longer think there's someone peeing on my front porch.
I finally have a chicken even if it's just metal.
The pollinators love the knautia.
The 'Etoile Violet' clematis are in full bloom.
After several days of rain
the sun is finally shining.
The windows are open
and I can hear my neighbors salsa music.
There is more rain coming to keep my garden happy.
This is such a nice post. Time to take a break from all there is to do in the garden and look at the things that work right and are good.
ReplyDeleteLaying in the hammock like a total slug would have been the best way to end the afternoon, but I was using it to air out a rug. :P I have to remind myself not to view every excursion into the garden as a chance to "get more work done". I need to lay in my hammock more. :o)
DeleteA lovely stroll around your beautiful garden....ahh!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteŚliczna donica w której są clemantisy.W ogrodzie pieknie. Deszcze jest dobry, ale nie w nadmiarze jak u nas było. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeletePretty pot in which they are clemantisy. In the garden beautiful. Rain is good, but not in excess, as we have been. Yours.
Thank you! :o) Hopefully, drier weather is headed your way.
DeleteI like your clematis, it looks like it is growing in a pot. I am thinking of planting one in a pot, good idea. We are growing some of the same plants I see.
ReplyDeleteBaltyk clematis always takes over. Last year it ate the spirea. I much prefer it hangout with the pot than strangle unsuspecting plants. I've never grown clematis in a container but I do have a honeysuckle in my back garden that is thriving in a big pot.
DeleteLove that mosaic pot.
ReplyDeleteThe chicken is perfect. You'll always know where she is, she won't scratch out seedlings or eat any precious plants.
He's very well behaved and doesn't crow at dawn. No complaints. :o)
DeleteBeautiful pictures; that's one gorgeous clematis on your porch. How old is t?
ReplyDeleteS
xo
Thanks! I think it's about 5 years old. There are two plants there. It's super easy to grow in a moistish spot.
DeleteA very positive report! Gorgeous clematis, and it's a relief to hear people are not peeing on your porch (you're sure now?). That Itea looks very happy. Do you know what kind of butterfly that is?
ReplyDeleteI actually opened the door and looked on my porch once to see if a deranged madman had his willy out and was peeing. The sweetspire is a very happy camper. It's probably a bit strange to see it planted next to a sedum but I had a weirdly dry spot that needed something. The butterfly is a pearl crescent. They usually fly away before I can capture a decent shot, but this one wasn't about to leave that flower. Knautia is like pollinator candy.
DeleteAll is clearly right with your world. The garden obviously loves the rain - I wish you could send a little my way. The Clematis are beautiful. I just put in a 'Sweet Autumn' Clematis myself and I'm hoping it might produce blooms this fall, although that's probably pushing my luck - I had to mail order it so I was late getting in the ground. I don't think of SoCal as Clematis country but maybe I'll try another kind in a pot next year anyway.
ReplyDeleteClematis like cool, rich, moist soil, and in your zone, afternoon shade. Not very picky, are they? I'm sure yours will do well under your care. :o)
DeleteWhat a lovely series of photos! Thank you so much for sharing. As well, thank you so much for your comment on my blog about Blogger's changes. It is greatly appreciated and very helpful!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!:o)
DeleteI love that mosaic pot. Your Clem looks very happy there. You got some great shots of the bee and the butterfly. It's wonderful when you can take the time to relax and enjoy the garden.
ReplyDeleteI have to remind myself to do that sometimes. I need to take more advice from my dogs: find a warm spot and take a nap. :o)
DeleteTammy, your blue clematis is stunning!I love such nice color and long branches with flowers. Is a lilac on the last photo?
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!
Thanks! I think it would grow well in your zone. It's very cold hardy. The last photo is a picture of my Peggy Martin rose. It does well in hot, humid climates.
DeleteLove your Clematis and everything is really looking great right now in your gardens. Lovely lush plantings. Your new chicken is very cool.
ReplyDeleteCher Sunray Gardens
Thanks! The chicken is a keeper. :o)
DeleteHow nice to focus on what's going well in the garden, and not all the trouble spots. Everything looks lovely. Your knautia looked suspiciously like my scabiosa, and when I looked it up, voila. It's a relative. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteKnautia and scabiosa are kissin' cousins in my book, which actually, when you think about it, is a bit creepy. ;o) But, yeah, they definitely look similar.
DeleteAs usual I love your post and, as usual, you gave me a laugh! I'm so glad no one is peeing on your front porch!! :-) Our chickens don't look the same, but they are from the same chicken family..the "I don't need food, water or a coop" family...they are the best kind! All of your flowers look just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWe have the best chickens! Now I just need to stop talking to him and sticking my hand up his butt looking for eggs.
DeleteYour clematis plants are beautiful. I'm still waiting for the buds on my four different clematises to open. I hate being behind so in the season! I had to laugh about the sound of your fountain -- I am so highly suggestible that just reading about the burbling water makes me need to find the lavatory : ) I don't think I could handle having one on my porch.
ReplyDeleteThe mosaic pot is a real pop of interest. Love it! You could make them and sell them and retire in ease.
The only person who would find my fountain soothing is a plumber. I bought it because I thought it was cute and might attract birds. They're probably all horrified.
DeleteYour garden is so lovely...fully matured and secure in it's world. Mine is new and young...but it has potential....of that I am sure. LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the part about the fountain.
Jen
My garden has been 9 years in the making and has been redesigned a zillion times. But I like your attitude about yours. It will be beautiful!
DeleteGood idea. Stroll around and see what's right. We need to do more of that.
ReplyDeleteLove that last photo.
Thanks! I have to remind myself to putter/work less and lounge more. :o)
DeleteA particularly beautiful blog post. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you right back! :o)
DeleteHi Tammy, I just love the clematis, I recently got a small one for a pot and can't wait for that to get established. You're having a much better time of the weather we are here, we're still sort of waiting for Spring. Although we had a brief period of sun, it's stayed cool and now it's gone cloudy again, boohoo - send some sunshine this way please!
ReplyDeleteThe sun is gone again and we are being drenched by a tropical storm. But the garden doesn't need to be watered! :o)
DeleteSalsa music, a cute chicken and a cute dog and rainfall....what more could a garden ask for?
ReplyDeleteAll the blooms are beautiful, but I especially loved the white flowers in your garden.
The white flowers belong a native plant that would hate Barbados, unfortunately. Salsa music and dogs make everything better. :o)
DeleteYour garden looks fabulous! Such a huge change a couple of months makes! Thanks for the Garden Love! It means a lot to me coming, as it does, from someone whose blog I find so inspirational and funny! (not odd funny but makes one laugh funny.) Anyway, thanks for sharing your huge mountains of garden love! (Does your husband know about this?)
ReplyDeleteThanks! We've had really weird warm/cold weather and tons of rain. It will probably be hotter than hell and bone dry the rest of the summer. I have lots of garden love to give! :o)
DeleteThat is what summmer should look like! Everything looks so fresh and healthy. Enjoy your beautiful garden and weather! And I enjoyed just seeing your photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :o)
DeleteGorgeous plants in bloom, especially the Clematis, but I'm more in love with that metal chicken! I've just added a metal heron to mine :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've seen metal herons. Very pretty! I actually thought about adding to one to the pond we're putting in this fall. :o)
DeleteI remember that vase! Looking good :) but that river of purple/blue flowers from your clematis is eclipsing everything right now. It's a gorgeous show-stopper!
ReplyDeleteThanks! My clematis is quite the style master. It was very determined to wrap itself around the little metal pieces and drape itself around the pot so I let it. :o)
DeleteYou definitely deserve to lie in the hammock more! The garden is looking GREAT!
ReplyDeleteYour Knautia looks a bit like my Scabiosa, which sadly the pollinators do not seem to have noticed yet...
Thanks! Ya know, the pollinators ignore my scabiosa, too. But they are crazy mad for knautia. It would definitely grow for you and because it self seeds, will help fill in any gaps.
DeleteHappy garden, fun ornaments and stunning clematis, all dancing to the sound of the pee fountain. Life is good.
ReplyDeleteThe fountain has been named! :o) I think Baltyk would love your garden, too.
DeleteWhere did you get that rooster? I have a chicken fetish and I MUST HAVE HIM!
ReplyDeleteI bet he shows up under your tree! ;o)
DeleteWhat a very colorful garden you have here! By the looks of it, I bet you spend most of your time here..
ReplyDeleteNatalie x
Every minute I can! :o)
