A while back Kevin of The Nitty Gritty Dirtman gave me the Beautiful Blogger Award. I am honored but am sending it right back his way. He has overcome incredible destruction from Hurricane Sandy with grace and style, making him not only a wonderful blogger but a beautiful person. However, I thought I'd go ahead and reveal the seven facts that are part of the award. This one's for you, Kevin!
1. I can be quite spontaneous. I assure you, I surprise myself sometimes.
2. I am a tactile, affectionate person. Although I grew up with four cats and two dogs, I prefer dogs because if you try to hug or snuggle a cat they will plot revenge.
Scout is blind, diabetic, and has thyroid disease but is an excellent cuddler.
3. When I've had a frustrating day, I turn to my cinematic alter ego, Bridget Jones. I absolutely relate to her tendency to say what she feels or to always say the wrong thing.
6. Fortunately for me, he loves me just as I am (my husband, not Colin Firth).
7. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love how uncommercial it is. My favorite way to celebrate is with a house full of friends and family. Plus, the leftover pumpkin cheesecake and sweet potato casserole are excellent for breakfast the next day. Happy Thanksgiving!!
'Stellar Pink' dogwood has vibrant fall foliage.
Your old guy is adorable. Love the Dogwood. Lovely Fall colors on it.

DeleteIt's taken the dogwood a while to turn red this fall but I'm enjoyed the delayed display. It makes fall seem longer and winter farther away.
Scout is a sweetie pie....I can feel his love just from looking at his photo....move over so I can snuggle up with him too.

DeleteScout is 100% SnuggleHound. :o)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Tammy. Your dogs are sure lucky to have a home with you. Just want to reach out and give Scout a pat on the head. Yes, cats plot revenge. hahaha
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen Love Actually. Maybe when the girls are home over Christmas....hubby isn't into chick flicks.
DeleteIt's rated R, which makes some people uncomfortable, but I love the theme of the movie and the plot is fabulous. It's definitely not a movie for Big Macho Men. :o)
Beautiful post from a Beautiful blogger. In all fairness, I have to say I did not suffer any real damage as a result of Sandy -- but many communities along the coast have. I'm just documenting what I can. That being said -- I'm with you when it comes to Thanksgiving. All you have to do is eat. :) Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDelete
DeleteThanksgiving for us is all about hanging out in the kitchen, eating a huge meal, great conversation, lots of laughter. The more the merrier!
I'm sure he loves you just the way you are (Colin I mean. We already assume your husband does.)
ReplyDelete
DeleteColin has no idea what he's missing! :o)
I especially appreciate your take on Thanksgiving. Nice to have such a holiday where you just cook, like a big family dinner party only maybe more festive. And there is so much turkey that even the dogs get a bite, and then.....leftovers! Have a great time.
ReplyDelete
DeleteYou, too! My dogs feast on Turkey Day. They spend all day licking their lips and looking for scraps.
:) Colin Firth seems to be a popular one these days:) I am laughing at the Bridget Jones bit. I get that way as well when in front of a crowd:) Awkward moments indeed:) Scout looks very adorable:)
ReplyDelete
DeleteThe Colin Firth crush has been going on about 15 years or so. Blame it on Pride and Prejudice. ;o)
Happy Thanksgiving ! Your dog is cute, and Colin too : )
ReplyDelete
DeleteThanks! Most of my favorite movies feature Colin Firth. What a coincidence! :o)
Love Actually is one of my favorite movies and will watch it at the drop of a hat. Any hat. No hat? Then a glove. Scarf. Whatever. Just drop something and I'm on the couch in front of the TV, tissues at hand. *sniffle*
ReplyDeleteAs for Colin - he's all your's girl. Me? I fell for Alan Rickman way back in Sense and Sensibility...
Bottom line - hope you and yours enjoy a marvelous Thanksgiving with all the trimmings. I'll be having turkey (the venison is not cooperating ;-/). :-D
ReplyDeleteI've lost track of how many times I've seen Love Actually so move over on the couch! :o) Colin is awesome in Mamma Mia!, too! Lots of eye candy in that flick!
I really like Thanksgiving too. Nothing much to do except cook and eat and visit and eat some more. I'm ashamed to admit that I've never seen Love Actually or Bridget Jones. But now you've got me curious. Scout looks like a total sweetie pie. Have a great Thanksgiving.
ReplyDelete
DeleteBoth movies are awesome! Watch Bridget Jones Diary before the sequel, which is funny but not as classic as the first. Happy Turkey and Pie Day!
Congratulations on the award--you so deserve every award you get, Tammy! I agree with you on everything except the cats. I love dogs, but cats are so, so sweet, too. Maybe someday another one will mew its way into your heart. ;-)
ReplyDelete
DeleteThanks! :o) I really like cats and if my husband weren't deathly allergic to them, I'd have a few. I just love how affectionate dogs are. They are elemental in their simplicity and joy.
congrats tammy on the award - I agree with you about cats and dogs. Cats are very attractive, but definitely not cuddly. Haven't seen Love Actually but could go for CF if you want to share the crush. As for the Bridget Jones item: LOL!
ReplyDelete
DeleteWe'll share Colin Firth. We'll set up an every other day schedule so I can also spend time with James Bond. ;o)
Tammy, congratulation on your award!
ReplyDeleteI love the 'Love actually' too for the sense of humor that is in this film. So the actor Colin Firth is a bit sad actor I think.
Happy Thanksgiving day!
DeleteThanks! Have you ever seen the movie Mamma Mia? Colin Firth's character is quite cheerful in that film. It might change your mind about him! :o)
Scout seems like a great movie watching companion and aren't the movies all about imagining ourselves right there in the middle of all the onscreen drama - or romance!
ReplyDelete
DeleteI have a vivid imagination and have put myself into the role of Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice many times!! Actually, all the tension in that movie would kill me. I'd end up just running across the room and hugging/kissing the stuffing out of the poor man. :o)
Two (green) thumbs up for Love Actually! :)
ReplyDelete
DeleteWoo-hoo!! Best movie ever!
Amen on the virtues of a non-commercial holiday. Scout looks like a sweet boy, just as sweet as CF. Must watch P&P one or two or three more times...
ReplyDelete
DeleteScout is awesome! I have three other dogs and they got together to vote me his seeing eye dog. :o) LOVE P&P and holidays not involving presents, giant blow up decorations, or all the expense. Wonderful people + turkey, potatoes, gravy, stuffing, pie/cheesecake and I'm all blissed out.
I see you haven't met my cats -- they love hugging and snuggling. lol!
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving is a fun holiday isn't it? I like a holiday that celebrates food. I especially enjoy making the desserts.
Sigh. I envy you your pink dogwood. :)
DeleteThose are my kind of cats! :o) I think the Stellar Pink would do well in your garden if it had some shade. I am seriously craving pie.
You are so dang cute! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday too. What's not to like? Good food, family and friends, and football! Hope yours is beautiful and joy filled.
ReplyDelete
DeleteRight back at ya! Happy Thanksgiving!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Tammy! Enjoy that pumpkin cheesecake and sweet potato casserole!
ReplyDelete
DeleteThanks! :o)
Congratulations! Cats that are happy to sit on one's lap and be stroked at length are few and far between. Am happy we have provided you with Colin Firth, though personally I am more a Clooney girl...
ReplyDelete
DeleteEverybody, even if they won't admit it, has some celeb they don't mind looking at twice. George Clooney is a great actor. :o)
Love the photo of the dogwood. I have never grown them, but I have two in my new yard. Not sure what variety they are, but they look like your photo. Your Scout is precious.
ReplyDelete
DeleteThanks! My dogwood is a Rutger's Hybrid Stellar Pink. It will be interesting to see what color the flowers are in the spring. The native whites bloom much earlier than mine does.
I just watched Love Actually the other day for the ten millionth time. What a great movie. and Colin Firth - what's not to love there? and cats, yup, you got their number all right. They never forget.
ReplyDelete
DeleteBest movie ever! When I was a kid, our cats would punish us any time someone went away for a few days. They would greet us and then make a point of turning around to stick their butt in the air, tail up, and walk away. Then they would ignore us for a day or two. It was funny but so petty.
Love Actually is one of my favorite movies too! It's one of the few "chick flicks" I'll admit to watching. Many people describe their experience with cats the way you did, but mine must be weird. They are very snuggly, and when we're gone for a while, they become extremely affectionate and clingy when we get back home. I also agree with you about Thanksgiving. Hope you had a beautiful holiday!
