Announcer: Welcome to northern Virginia! It's National Disaster Week! We started our celebration with an earthquake and will be joined by Hurricane Irene tomorrow.
Crowd: Total silence....
Announcer: By Monday of next week, we're expecting a plague of locusts! Surprise!
Crowd: Total silence....
Announcer: Come on now, folks! It's not all bad. Tammy bought seven 'Burgundy Glow' ajuga plants for 50 cents a piece on the sale table!
Crowd: And the crowd goes wild!!! Woo-hoo!! Now we're talking!
To ludzi trzęsieni, huragan i szarańcza nie interesuje, tylko chęć zakupu czegoś tanio. Straszne. Pozdrawiam

ReplyDeleteDrought, high temperatures, now an earthquake and a hurricane soon expected! Your little corner of the world is having a tough time of it this summer! Hopefully, the hurricane will have already lost some of its steam before it hits town.
I have not kept up very well lately with the various garden blogs I discovered and bookmarked last year, but I wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you all in the US northeast this weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt sure does feel like National Disaster Week!!! I am hoping after Irene, we will deserve a long quiet nap...say for 30 years!!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy,
ReplyDelete(I'm assuming you are the Amy who bought the ajuga plants.) I came here from Gardening in the Boroughs of NYC. I hope Irene doesn't do as much harm as they are thinking it could. I have been praying for you all.
It looks like we have some things in common. I am a special education paraeducator in a high school. I love having my summers off. I grow a variety of plants, many with butterflies, bees, and birds in mind. I like the toad and skink that visited your place.
I hope the locusts don't eat your ajuga :-) Get some sleep, woman! Cool skink!
ReplyDeleteTake a lot of care during the hurricane. Hope you are safe. And I look forward to seeing the ajuga
ReplyDeleteI often can not sleep at 3 in the morning, but never thought to go outside and see what was cooking. Looks like stuff is happening critterwise. Your graphics are so cute with the commentary. Hopefully it will all be over soon. Not looking forward to the plague of locusts.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about you all weekend. Hope you and yours make it through totally unscathed. What a week!
ReplyDeleteHot dog!! Glad you got the Ajuga! Hope you are in love with it. Great groundcover.
ReplyDeleteDisaster Week indeed. whoa
